u17-u19 Training Objectives
Game: 11v11; two 45-minute halves; 80’ x 120’ field; 8’ x 24’ goals.
Playing Time: More competitive and playing time will not be equal; lower level and time should be closer to equal.
Formation:4-4-2, 3-5-2, 3-4-3, 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, be creative and play several formations.
Practice Time: Four times per week, which includes games (1 hour, 30 minutes maximum)
Objectives: Skill development, tactical awareness, increased speed of play.
Technical: Mastered skills leading to artistry - all at speed under match conditions and demanding excellence.
Goalkeeping:
Footwork, set position, general ball handling, distance of support, decision making, presence, organization of defense.
Tactical:
Increase tactical speed (decision making). Increased pressure and competition.
Gamesmanship – ability to change and adapt to game dynamics, up or down goals, management of the clock.
Attacking:
Possession with a purpose, combination play with tactical implications, speed of
play/deception, body positioning to look, moving with your touch, penetration and creativity, quality of
final ball to beat backs, counter attack, wide flank play, target play and creating chances, crossing with proper runs into the box, set plays.
Defending:
Compactness; delay; tracking back; communication (who, what, when, where); dictate the play with defending; set plays.
Small Sided Games:4v4, 7v7, 9v9, 11v11
Demanding and challenging training sessions and matches are a must!
